Construction of Moulds, Models and Shells

Sika offers innovative systems for the construction of models, moulds and Shells.

Biresin® model pastes based on epoxy or polyurethane resins, and SikaBlock® model and tooling boards, offer a wide range of solutions for the cost effective fabrication of perfect quality models and plugs.

Sika has a wide range of epoxy resins and gelcoats suitable for the production of composite moulds. Resins and gel coats are available with a large span of thermal performance to suit customers production processes.

Biresin® composite resins provide an extensive range of epoxy based systems for use in fibre reinforced composite applications. Our standard product range covers almost all aspects and processes for parts manufacturing.

Composite systems for blade shells

We developed epoxy resin systems especially to produce reinforced plastic parts in combination with carbon, glass and aramid fibres in hand lay-up and vacuum infusion processes. Several of our customers are using this system to produce parts for horizontal and vertical wind turbines because of the high performance, excellent properties and flexibility (different hardeners to adapt pot-life with uniform mixing ratio).

Biresin®CR82 and Biresin®CR80 can be used with the same hardener series hence our customer only has to buy one hardener (BiresinCH80-1, BiresinCH80-2, BiresinCH80-6 or BiresinCH80-10) for any of our resin. Saving cost and storage space.

Composite resin systems for hand-lay up

?????????

Biresin®CR82 is an epoxy system designed for hand lay-up and hand lay-up with vacuum bagging processes.

  • Four hardeners (B) with just one mixing ratio (100:27) by weight
  • Reactivity can be adapted by mixing the hardeners
  • Systems with a optimized viscosity and thus good impregnation and non-draining properties
  • All systems are Germanischer Lloyd approved
  • Glass transition temperature up to 95°C can be achieved (depending on used hardener and curing conditions)

Composite resin systems for vacuum infusion

Biresin®CR80 is a low viscosity epoxy resin suitable for the production of high performance fibre reinforced composite parts such as rotor blade shells. Biresin®CR80 is especially suited to vacuum infusion process due to its low viscosity range.

  • Four hardeners (B) give a wide range of processing time
  • Uniform mixing ratio of 100:30 by weight
  • Fast infusion and good wetting of fabrics and fibres due to low viscosity and good wetting characteristics
  • All systems are Germanischer LIoyd approved
  • Glass - transition temperature up to 100°C can be achieved (depending on used hardener and curing conditions)
?????????

Biresin®CR83 is an epoxy resin with an extremely low viscosity designed specifically for the infusion process of high performance fibre reinforced composite parts such as rotor blade shells. Biresin®CR83 is especially suited to vacuum infusion process due to its extremely low viscosity.

  • Three hardeners (B) available with a uniform mixing ratio of 100:30
  • The reactivity can be adapted by mixing the hardeners
  • Extremely low tendency to crystallize
  • Fast infusion and good wetting behaviours due to low viscosity and good wetting characteristic even at low temperature (e.g. 15°C)
  • All systems Germanischer Lloyd approved
  • Glass - transition temperature up to 84°C depending on used hardener and curing conditions
